This is an experiement and is not intended to disrupt anything… yet. FrankenPHP is already serving this website, so I wanted to push it a bit further 🙂 I hope Drupal will end up shipping a webserver and for that webserver to be FrankenPHP. Until then this is just one more low friction way to try Drupal out.

I released Drupack, a binary that contains everything needed to run Drupal. No need for docker, PHP, apache installed locally. Download the binary, execute it and you have a local Drupal CMS website up and running. There are binaries for Linux, Windows, and MacOS (couldn’t test those ones myself but they should work).
Here are the commands for Linux, they look really similar for windows and macos.
A few years ago I said Drupal needed infrastructure innovation, and I finally took the time to work on it. While I really like DDEV, I’m really not a fan of having to use Docker for everything so I’m trying to do something about it.
I don’t know what’ll be next, I’m afraid I’ll only stop once I run out of Drupal-based puns…
